The chart and the sea
ACRE has no teleporting. You get around by boat, and the chart shows where you can go.
The chart
Section titled “The chart”Press M on any island to open the chart. It has two tabs: Archipelago, the whole sea, and This island. Esc closes it, except while you’re under way. Then the chart stays up until you land.
Set sail lists where you can go, in this order:
- Friends’ islands, with their faces (“Maya is home”)
- Your team’s islands
- Islands you visited lately
- Open startup islands
- Funds
You can search the list. Each row says why you can or can’t land, and one click sets sail. Home and Harbor are always one click away, and H goes to Harbor and back.
You can also walk to the end of your pier: the dock offers Set sail or row out.
Rowing out
Section titled “Rowing out”Row out on the chart takes a boat out on the open sea for you to steer.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| W A S D or arrow keys | Steer |
| Shift | Full sail |
| Click an island | Steer there |
| E | Land at the island you’re alongside |
| Esc | Back to where you were |
Row somewhere new picks an island at random. Friends’ islands are three times as likely, and open startup islands twice as likely.
What you can see
Section titled “What you can see”The sea only shows islands you could land on. Private islands are never named or counted, so nobody can find yours by sailing past it. See Visiting and privacy.
The VC Canal
Section titled “The VC Canal”Off Harbor’s north shore is the VC Canal, a rowing scene with the fund lodges and their jetties. Each dock board shows the fund’s focus and portfolio.
