Local sync

Local sync brings your existing agent chats into ACRE. Once synced, you can search them, pick them up on another machine, and share chosen ones with your team. It needs desktop 0.1.4 or newer. Open it from the Agents desk (see Agents).

Tool Where its chats live
Claude Code ~/.claude/projects/**/*.jsonl
Codex ~/.codex/sessions/YYYY/MM/DD/rollout-*.jsonl
Gemini CLI ~/.gemini/tmp/<project>/chats/
OpenCode ~/.local/share/opencode (Linux) or ~/Library/Application Support/opencode (macOS)

Uploaded: only what you and the assistant said, plus small raster images (PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP; at most four per turn).

Never uploaded: tool calls, tool results, thinking, side chains and compaction summaries. Your home folder is written as ~. ACRE never writes to your CLI’s own files.

Limits: 10,000 turns per chat, 20,000 characters per turn, 8 MB per chat.

Every chat is redacted on your machine before upload, and again on the server.

  • Nothing uploads until you choose Sync all, and nothing uploads while sync is paused. Pausing takes effect within about 30 seconds.
  • Mark a chat Don’t sync to keep it local. If it was already uploaded, it is deleted from ACRE, along with any memory made from it.
  • Folder skip rules let you exclude whole projects.
  • While running, sync repeats every 60 seconds and skips files that haven’t changed.

Synced chats are Only me by default. A project’s shared memory only sees a summary of a chat if you share that chat with the project’s team, or turn on learn for it.

Chats you can read are also mirrored back to ~/.acre/sessions/ on each of your machines (files readable only by you), so you can pick them up offline. A chat that is no longer shared with you is removed from that mirror at the next sync.

On Free, chats older than 30 days are skipped and storage is 250 MB. Pro keeps full history with 20 GB. See Pricing.
