What every platform needs

• node (Node.js 18 or newer, 22 LTS recommended) on PATH
• claude and/or codex on PATH, signed in with your own subscription

The app starts these by name, so it uses whatever the app’s environment finds on PATH. It does not search other folders.

macOS and version managers

If you installed Node or the CLIs with a version manager such as nvm, they may only be on PATH inside your shell. An app started from the Dock may not see them. If the app says it can’t find Node or a CLI, install them somewhere on the system PATH (for example with your package manager or the official installer), then reopen ACRE.

Known issues

• AppImage before 0.1.5: Sync all fails with “Runner returned no result”. The AppImage’s bundled libraries leaked into the system node, which then crashed. 0.1.5 fixes this. Update, or use the .deb or .rpm.
• Started from Finder, a .desktop launcher or the Windows Start menu, the runner may not find Node or the CLIs that your terminal finds. 0.1.6 fixes this. Coming soon Until then, see the note above.
